Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday, because its the one night i can go big with theatrics. Its such a cinematic holiday where only your imagination is your limit. I am showing this content because it is an accurate representation of how much i love productions, and how i enjoy putting together artwork, campaigns, and video in my free time.

“Purge With Us” was our 2020 slogan for our annual Halloween party.  The primary goal was to start a month long campaign that teased a fun and immersive “Purge” themed experience for trick-or-treaters.  The event would pull attendees into a world where the annual purge existed on Halloween night, and give them a chance to purge themselves.

Awareness is the name of the game. The first couple of posts are meant to drive awareness to the event.

Facebook Invite

Website with Countdown

I made this for our Nextdoor App neighbors, so they had more info on the event, and knew that it was safe, but to attend at your own risk, as the events might be scary for children.

Week 2

I started very light with a hint of Halloween. I wanted to give off the Halloween vibe that would set the tone for the rest of the month.

Week 3

For this week, i introduced a bit of anarchy.
I carried through with the American flag/vote theme as we knew the intense debates would fuel the hype of the event.

Halloween

The Halloween Purge Party

Clips were edited together and projected on a large plastic sheet. This audio (including the signature siren) was played on a large speaker and could be heard throughout the neighborhood.

To enhance the immersive experience, a dummy (we called him Mike) was placed in front of the display. Trick-or-treaters were encouraged to participate in the Purge. Guests of all ages stood in a long line to take their turn hitting the dummy with a bat.
After doing their civic duty, they were awarded with a sticker that read ``I PURGED``.

The event was a huge topic of discussion on the nextdoor app for several weeks. Many people applauded the theatrics, while others were disturbed by the violent nature.

Our goal of Halloween shock-and-awe was a success.

Projector Screen Video and Sound

This edit includes original content from the motion picture ``The Purge`` as well as some video put together by myself. The clips were edited together and displayed on a large plastic sheet. This audio was played on a large speaker and could be heard throughout the neighborhood.

Event Pics

The neighborhood loved the festivities. Our goal was shock and awe - and the event made waves on the nextdoor app. Most people praised the production, while others claimed it was too violent for the younger audience. Adults and youths alike partook in the purge event, and did so with a smile on their face. Upon purging, each participant walked away with candy and an ``I PURGED`` sticker. Kids from afar made their way to the event just to take a swing at Mike and earn the sticker.

The goal - Shock and awe. Mission accomplished.
